The doctor is in show

About 10% of all cancers are hereditary, and there are more than 50 hereditary cancer syndromes that are associated with specific gene mutations. On Friday, September 25th, Southern Cancer Center’s nurse practitioner Skyler Martin spoke with WKRG New 5 in their monthly medical segment called “The Doctor Is In” to discuss the benefits of genetic counseling and testing. Skyler is certified in Genetic Counseling & High Risk Cancer Assessment and oversees Southern Cancer Center’s genetics program.

“We don’t just treat cancer, we manage the risk. At Southern Cancer Center, we offer comprehensive counseling and genetic testing for patients with a significant family and/or personal history of cancer, at our locations on both sides of Mobile Bay.”
