The Doctor Is In- Genetic Counseling

About 10% of all cancers are hereditary, and there are more than 50 hereditary cancer syndromes that are associated with specific gene mutations. On Friday, September 25th, Southern Cancer Center’s nurse practitioner Skyler Martin spoke with WKRG New 5 in their monthly medical segment called “The Doctor Is In” to discuss the benefits of genetic counseling and testing. Skyler is certified in Genetic Counseling & High Risk Cancer Assessment and oversees Southern Cancer Center’s genetics program.
