Bread Bite: Serve the Lord
Continuing our weekly words of encouragement to give you a positive start, here is your Southern Cancer Center “Bread Bite” from Pastor Daniel Blaylock of Forest Hill Church of God in Mobile, AL.
Pastor Daniel-
Are you ready to tackle another day? Or are you still recovering a little from yesterday? Either way, let God’s word breathe some fresh encouragement into your heart today!
Colossians 3:23 says, “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.”
Ephesians 6:7 says, “Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not people.”
These two verses always give me a boost of fresh determination to push past my fatigue and press through the challenges of a new day. If we’re honest, everyone has a day now and then where we question, “Is it really worth it?” Here’s the answer that always pulls me through: I’m not always sure if it’s worth it, but I’m quite sure that He’s worth it! Jesus is worthy of my hard work, my good attitude, and my best effort – today and every day. Still not quite sure? Maybe Mother Theresa can say it better than I can:
“People are often unreasonable, illogical and self centered;
Forgive them anyway. If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives; Be kind anyway. If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies; Succeed anyway. If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you; Be honest and frank anyway. What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight;
Build anyway. If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous; Be happy anyway. The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow; Do good anyway. Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough; Give the world the best you’ve got anyway. You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and your God; It was never between you and them anyway.”
Hang in there dear friends! I’m praying for you and pulling for you today! Let’s please our Savior and live this day so that when our head hits the pillow tonight, we can honestly say we left it all on the field!
