Bread Bite: Be Kind
Continuing with our series of words of encouragement, here is your Southern Cancer Center Friday “Bread Bite” from Pastor Brock Bruce of Christian Life Church in Mobile, Alabama. Pastor Brock-Our scripture this morning is not always easy to put into practice. The Apostle Paul tells the Colossian church how to engage others and with what kind of attitude. He says to be gentle, kind, humble, meek and patient. It’s much easier to be harsh, unkind, proud, self-serving and quick-tempered. When our attitude is self-focused those around us are often treated as obstacles to be pushed aside or tools to be used in our own advancement. That is not the way of Christ, and it’s not the way to peace. When Jesus told us that He came to give us life, abundant life, this is what He meant. True peace, joy, hope, love and contentment come from a life in submission to God and a surrendered self. Living only for self leaves us empty. Jesus taught us a better way. He said, “What does it profit a man if he should gain the whole world and lose his soul?” Living only for self leaves us lost. Paul says there’s a better way. Surrender to Christ and let that surrendered life lift those around you. Begin to live that good life.
