Christmas Cheer at SCC
Decorating for Christmas is good for the soul… at least it feels that way after this topsy-turvy year. There’s never a “good” time to have cancer, but many patients find it especially difficult to fight their battles during the holiday season. That’s why each year the staff of Southern Cancer Center pitches in and transforms our offices into festive, Christmas wonderlands for those patients still coming into our clinics to receive their treatment. From beautiful trees and gingerbread houses to tacky sweaters and crazy hats, we hope our holiday spirit has provided much-needed stress relief, and even brought some genuine cheer, to our patients and their families.
Extra fun – – Each SCC clinic decorated its own gingerbread house this year, but we had a difficult time deciding “who did it best?” So, we put it to a Facebook vote. After an entire week of social media voting, and nearly 500 votes cast, our Springhill clinic was declared Gingerbread House Champion! Then we dressed up. You may ask, who actually looks good in ugly sweaters or silly hats?… OUR STAFF does, that’s who. Special thanks to Dr. Sherri Arledge, Dr. Curry McEvoy, Dr. Nicole Angel, and their teams for brightening everyone’s day and showing off their festive side. Who knew Dr. McEvoy could still look so dapper with a turkey on his head?!
