Southern Cancer Center’s “Bread Bite” series shares weekly words of encouragement and inspiration from local area churches. This week’s message is from Pastor Brock Bruce of New City Church in Mobile.

Pastor Brock-

Good Monday Morning. Guess what!? Jesus is greater!

(1 John 4:4 CSB) You are from God, little children, and you have conquered them because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.

The truth about the human condition is this — We are broken. We are messy. We are needy. We are sinful. And no matter how good we are still selfish and conceited and ugly and broken. The truth is that we need something greater than ourselves to get us out of the mess we have made. We need a greater doctor to mend our souls. We need a greater designer to rebuild our brokenness. We need a greater counselor to guide our hearts. We need a greater King to rule our kingdoms. We need a greater Savior than ourselves. We need Jesus. Jesus is Greater.

(Hebrews 1 ESV) The Supremacy of God’s Son

[1] Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, [2] but in these last days, he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world. [3] He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, [4] having become as much superior to angels as the name he has inherited is more excellent than theirs.

Jesus is greater. Even greater than a Monday morning. And if you are in Christ the Spirit of Christ is in you! And the Spirit of Christ is greater than the spirit at work in the world. Jesus is greater. The one who is in you is greater! Trust in Jesus today. He’s greater than anything that could come against him. He even conquered death. Jesus is greater.
