New anchor taking doctor interview into the studio

The development and approval process of a drug has been the topic of much discussion lately because of the attention that has surrounded the release of the COVID-19 vaccine.

On Friday, February 26, Southern Cancer Center’s Director of Pharmacy, Tiffany Mitchem, Pharm.D, sat down with WKRG to shine some light on this subject and discuss how cancer drugs to journey from scientists in a lab and into the hands of a patient. Topics they discussed include early lab phases in drug development, a series of steps in a clinical trial, the process of FDA approval, and the future of drug approval due to the rapid response to the coronavirus.
