Q&A WITH DR. KRUSPE

Why did you choose to work in healthcare?

“I was fascinated with science and with learning from the time I was a young girl. While in freshman Biology, I realized that becoming a doctor would provide opportunities for lifelong learning and for using that knowledge to help others. While in medical school, I chose to pursue oncology because, unlike other fields, it provides opportunities to form meaningful relationships with patients and for continuous learning. The breakthroughs made in oncology in the past decade have been incredible, and it’s such a gift to bring these innovations to patients.”

What is your philosophy around patient care?

“I believe that active listening and empathy are the foundations for exceptional patient care. My goal is to understand my patients’ concerns and hopes so that I’m best able to meet their needs. I believe our clinic offers a warm, welcoming environment where we strive to provide personalized, thoughtful attention to our patients. We offer cutting-edge treatment with a focus on the whole patient and not simply the disease, and we do so with exceptional compassion.”

What is interesting about your personal life?

“My husband, Andy, and I met as teenagers, later reconnected, and married in 2000. We enjoy hiking, traveling, cooking and trying new foods. We also love music — I listen and Andy listens and performs. He’s a percussionist and plays and teaches the Irish drum (the Bodhran). We’ve made friends from all over the world and traveled to Ireland many times because of this little drum!”
