It’s June which means it’s time to celebrate National Cancer Survivor Month! Although we seek to celebrate our survivors at SCC year-round, we are very excited to invite the public out for a night honoring the amazing cancer survivors of our community. On Friday, June 16th SCC will host our 3rd Annual Survivor Celebration Night as the Mobile BayBears take on the Biloxi Shuckers. We invite you to bring the whole family out for an exciting night of baseball and other activities. There will be a photo booth and free giveaways throughout the game, and of course, it wouldn’t be a celebration without fireworks, so don’t forget to stick around for the show following the game.
This event is a celebration of life for those who have battled and survived cancer as well as a chance to raise awareness for the ongoing struggles they continue to face as a result of their disease. Today in the U.S. there are around 15 million cancer survivors; this disease continues to touch so many families and this event is just one of the many ways we can surround our neighbors with support from the community. Attendees can visit the SCC table to talk to our staff about other ways to get involved with helping local cancer patients. From volunteering time to participating in fundraisers, there are so many ways to make a difference.
A big thank you to the BayBears for partnering with us to put on this special night for some truly inspiring people. The game will begin at 7:05 pm at Hank Aaron Stadium in Mobile. For ticket information visit the box office or www.mobilebaybears.com.
