Bread Bite: Where To Turn
To share words of encouragement, here is your Southern Cancer Center Friday ‘Bread Bite’, brought to you by Pastor Daniel Blaylock from Forest Hill Church of God in Mobile, AL.

“For we have no power against this great multitude that is coming against us; nor do we know what to do, but our eyes are upon You.” II Chronicles 20:12
From the COVID-19 pandemic to the anguished outpouring of grief over the recent death of George Floyd, 2020 has proven to be a “pressure cooker” for all of us. In times like this, I often lean on the verse above. It’s a great prayer: “Lord, we don’t know what to do, but our eyes are on You!”
In times of uncertainty, there are several places we need to “turn”:
- Turn to God- For people of faith, this our first impulse in trouble. Like always, allow your faith to anchor you during this season. Take some extra time to pray, to meditate on God’s promises and to quiet your heart before Him.
- Turn inward- At the end of the day, the hardest person I have to lead…is ME! And the only person I can really change…is ME! Seasons like this cause us to look at our own hearts and ask the tough questions. Are there attitudes and ways of thinking that I’ve been blind to in my own life? Are there ways of speaking, acting and thinking that I need to work on? “Everyone wants change, but no one wants TO change.” As Gandhi once said, “Be the change you want to see in the world.”
- Turn to each other- With our family, friends and co-workers, we’ve done a good job of having one another’s back and taking care of each other. Don’t back up on that now! Step it up even more. We NEED the love and support of one another right now. So reach down deep and let’s go the extra mile in serving each other.
WHAT YOU’RE DOING MATTERS! Good people from all races, ethnicities and socio-economic backgrounds are COUNTING ON YOU. God wired you to serve and gifted you to be a blessing to others by what you do each day – don’t let uncertainty or stress over what you cannot control keep you from doing what you can to help!
