Bread Bite: Living & Active Word

Southern Cancer Center’s “Bread Bite” series shares weekly words of encouragement and inspiration from local area churches. This week’s message is from Pastor Brock Bruce of Christian Life Church.

Pastor Brock-

Let me ask you a simple question this morning- how can I pray for you today? I believe God hears the prayers of His people. I believe God hears the honest cry of the heart from even those who are far from Him. I believe God also speaks to us through His word. The writer of Hebrews tells us “For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12 ESV

Like the tools of a surgeon, God’s word cuts us to bring healing to us. And when we approach His word with a prayerful heart and open ear to hear the voice of God then the Word of God will do the surgical, healing work that is needed in us. I’m praying for you today. God is not quiet. Often we just aren’t listening. God help us to open Your word and listen to You speak.
