Southern Cancer Center has joined The US Oncology Network, a union that will strengthen SCC’s ability to remain independent and provide access to vast resources. The USO Network provides strong and comprehensive practice management capabilities and value-based care expertise that are critical for large practices such as SCC navigating today’s challenging healthcare landscape. The Network is supported by McKesson Specialty Health, an industry leader in solutions that empower the community patient care delivery system to advance the science, technology, and quality of care. The agreement unites two like-minded organizations with a vision of keeping independent physician groups strong and viable while sharing a common goal of improving patient health.

“Our mission at Southern Cancer Center remains to preserve the patient-doctor relationship and provide access to a high-quality healthcare experience,” said Dr. Michael Meshad. “By joining The US Oncology Network, it will help us continue this mission through a model that provides all the scale, resources, infrastructure and expertise we require to remain strong and independent.”

The US Oncology Network also gains significantly through the collaboration, adding Southern Cancer Center’s 8 highly-credentialed and specialized medical oncology physicians to The Network. The addition of SCC extends the reach of The Network, broadening and strengthening the capabilities and knowledge-base of the organization throughout the Gulf Coast Region of Alabama.

“Complexity for independent, community-based providers like Southern Cancer Center continues to increase as the healthcare landscape evolves,” said Kirk Kaminsky, president of The US Oncology Network and Practice Management for McKesson Specialty Health. “Our innovative and comprehensive practice management solutions are in a unique position to ease provider challenges and ensure long-term practice health. The Network’s proven success in practice management empowers providers in our physician-led organization to focus on advancing patient care.”
